Johannes Kaiser has been an innovative municipal director for Mauren-Schaanwald for over twelve years.

The municipality of Mauren, together with the hamlet of Schaanwald, has 3’500 inhabitants, and features an outstanding residential quality for the population. In turn, this also ensures a high degree of recreation and quality of life. Mauren has developed into a municipality which is endowed with an outstanding reputation far beyond its boundaries......
Mauren is blessed with a good economic situation, possesses an attractive village centre, exudes openness towards all people, and is also a starting point for nice hikes. The purposeful and courageous ideas of the Mauren municipal authorities, which are always developed amongst the young and old, have taken visible form. As a result, the active village development of Mauren and Schaanwald has always been afforded substantial emphasis. The attractive boy scout home along the edge of the forest, «Auf Berg» («On the Mountain») was recently opened for the youth; furthermore, both of the central projects, «multipurpose facility» as well as the reorganisation of the Eschen-Mauren sports park are on the verge of being started.
The municipality of Mauren also intensively addresses the needs of the future together with the local population. As a result, the four projects «Umpasa» (economic promotion), «Muron» (spatial and settlement planning), «Zuschg» (core development of the Schaanwald hamlet) as well as «Spiegel» (needs and image analysis) have been initi-ated by director Kaiser, who has presided over the municipality with a very innovative style of leadership for over 12 years. As a result, the future devel-opment in Mauren has not been relinquished to coincidence. Municipal director Johannes Kaiser as well as «Lowland» municipalities are striving to achieve the same result in the realm of traffic. They are all of the firm conviction that the Liechtenstein Lowland must not be abused as a transit route.
The municipality has always striven to bring together young and old. The youth project «Papperlapapp» as well as the senior citizen project «Poststüble» are two showpiece objects which illustrate how important it is in a municipality to establish meeting venues which promote the community and «weld» people together. The young as well as the elderly generation are highly enthusiastic about these communicative leisure facilities. The impressive frequency of visitors also clearly demonstrates this point. Especially in today’s times and strengthened even further in the future, it will prove to be of enormous significance that the aspect of health and leisure activity promotion is afforded a considerable emphasis. In addition to the projects which were mentioned in the beginning, the cultural events which characterise the «inner life» of a municipality are also very important for the municipality of Mauren. Mauren is quite richly endowed in this respect; and at this point one can congratulate all of the associations, because they are the folks who make Mauren what it exudes to visitors: Because «z’Mura lauft all eppes» («.... everything revolves around Mauren...»). And so the municipality of Mauren-Schaanwald counts a total of over 70 associations - ranging from the traditional to the original. All have something in common. They are extremely active and readily identify themselves with their hometown - with body and soul!
Mauren has also undertaken many things with regard to recreation and development of leisure time activity. Here one finds a wealth of offers, such as: the Birka aviary paradise, nature trail, high-elevation hiking trails, horseback riding landscape, the «Gopfaböhel Plateau»; or the appealing Weiherring leisure park, which one utilises for having a barbecue, for playing at the playground or in the water sports facility, but also features a half-pipe as well as a large-scale beach volleyball facility. The future of Mauren lies in the fact that the strengths and the admirable bond between young and old functions brilliantly in this innovative municipality.
