Rich in history

A 13th century fresco in the Knights’ Parlour still displays the coat of arms of the Counts of Toggenburg – the builders of the time-honoured fort. Massive walls down to 3,5 m under ground and numerous arrow-slits give testimony to the original purpose of the castle. Besides, the name of the «Schattenburg» speaks for itself: the castle protected («beschatten» in medieval German) the town of Feldkirch against the constant threat of outside attacks.

Today, the Schattenburg welcomes its guests in style: with a fascinating history, a strong sense of culture and an opulent gastronomical offer.

Culinary delights in medieval flair
With their friendly service and meticulously prepared meals, the Gmeiner Family and their staff strive to regale you in this extraordinary setting of a medieval castle. International special-ities, regional classics and creations according to the season delight old and young. Not to forget the famed Schattenburg-Schnitzel (escalope) of a length of 30cm! Schattenburg Castle Inn will have the appropriate ambience for every occasion. The Knights’ Parlour, Wine Parlour, Hubertus Parlour or the Knights’ Hall offer the ideal setting for relaxed family celebrations, for merry wedding parties or memorable jubilees. Business related events find equally ideal conditions, be it company or christmas parties, stylish receptions or just informal meetings.

The guests benefit from the landlords ingenuity and expertise accumulated in over ten years. And then of course you can count on professional service and product quality of the highest level.
