Municipality of Schaan
with Director Daniel Hilti

Schaan is the most heavily populated municipality in Liechtenstein
with about 5’700 inhabitants

Located in the middle of the country at the foot of the «Three Sisters» massif,
Schaan connects the Highlands with the Lowlands, and is the country’s traffic hub and shopping metropolis.

The attractive residential community with spacious leisure activity facilities and a remarkable cultural offering is at the same time one of the most significant economic locations in the region. Strong industrial, trade and service businesses offer a large variety of jobs.

The headquarters of internationally active concerns are located in Schaan. Numerous smaller business operations are also able to assert themselves on the regional and international market thanks to their special products. The main emphasis lies on mechanical engineering and instrument construction, but products for dental medicine, foodstuffs and electronic components are also manufactured in the Schaan industrial sphere. The main construction industry and the auxiliary construction industry are particularly strongly represented.

Schaan has the largest agricultural area of all municipalities in the country, to which the alpine pastures Guschg and Gritsch also belong.

The Schaan catering industry - which features many restaurants and sophisticated hotels, an attractive range of tourism activities as well as many sports and cultural events - illustrates the hospitable and vivacious side of Schaan, and attracts visitors from near and far.
