Her Highness the Princess was born on 14th April 1940 in Prague as Countess Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau, the fourth of seven children from Count Ferdinand Carl Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau and Countess Henriette, née Countess von Ledebur-Wicheln. Like so many others, the family was expelled from the former Czechoslovakia in 1945, and they escaped to Germany.


She attended the elementary school at Ering on the Inn from 1946 to 1950. She subsequently entered the Sisters of St. Lioba boarding school at the Wald Convent in Württem- berg. In 1975 she undertook a lengthy residence in England in order to learn the English language.
During the course of six semesters she attended the Academy for Commercial Art in Munich, and completed these studies with a diploma. She subsequently worked as a commercial artist in a printing shop.
On 30th July 1967 she married the at that time Prince Inheritor Hans-Adam von und zu Liechtenstein. Prince Hans-Adam II. and Princess Marie have four children:

The interests of the Princess are devoted first and foremost to the country’s social institutions. She is President of the Liechtenstein Red Cross and President of the Association for medico-peda- gogical Assistance. Furthermore, she is interested in the Arts and culture, and she is engaged with educational and child guidance affairs.
As a result of their participation in official events of the most varying nature, the Prince and Princess demonstrate their bonds with Liechtenstein as well as their interests in political, economic, cultural or sports developments in the principality.
