exclusiv in conversation with
Dr. iur. Peter Marxer jun., President of the
Liechtenstein Association of Professional Trustees

What are the tasks of the Liechtenstein
Association of Professional Trustees?

The Liechtenstein Association of Professional Trustees is a public law corporation.
It is incumbent upon it to safeguard the honour, the reputation and the rights of trustees and also to supervise their duties. The Liechtenstein Association of Professional Trustees has existed in its current form since the relevant legal framework came into force in 1993. It is a compulsory public law corporation in which all the licensed trustees are members.

It comprises all the licensed trustees and trustee associations in Liechtenstein. The entities of the Liechtenstein Association of Professional Trustees are the plenary assembly, the board of directors and the auditors. It is not only the membership of the EEA that has changed the areas of operation of the trustees in the country. Like all sectors the trustee sector is subject to constant change. The extensive new regulations in the area of the duty of care law which have been introduced in the last few years come to mind.

The main activity of a trustee includes the following: Foundation of companies, assumption of administration mandates, investment consultancy and asset management, financial, economic consultancy and tax consultancy, book keeping and control activity.

Professional training and further education
for the impeccable image of the economic
and industrial location of Liechtenstein are essential.
What training tasks does the trustee association take on?

Our members provide first-class consultancy and services. They guarantee trust and quality. This high level of professionalism can only be achieved through fundamental professional training and the constant willingness to continue to train. The Association of Professional Trustees offers apprentices a sector-specific training. In order to be able to keep step with the growing requirements and the increasing complexity in every day professional life, the apprentices are trained in inter-company courses specifically for the particular conditions in Liechtenstein and then prepared by the Association of Professional Trustees for the final training examination.

Dr. iur. Peter Marxer jun. has been a board member of the Association of Professional Trustees since 2000 and president since 2003.

He is convinced that in the future it will continue to be possible to offer the services of the Association of Professional Trustees.

Therefore it is an important concern and objective of the Association of Professional Trustees to offer young people of this profession an excellent basic training and to enable them to have the opportunity of ongoing further education.
