Administrative Portal Project Manager Sven Lässer

exclusiv in conversation
with Sven Lässer, Project Manager
of the Administrative Portal

What duties does
the National Administration assume
in the Principality of Liechtenstein?

The Liechtenstein National Administration is subordinated to the Principality of Liechtenstein and responsible for handling an extremely extensive field of activities. The variety of offices in this connection ranges in the truest sense of the word
[in the German language]
from A (e.g. Office of Foreign Affairs) to Z (e.g. Civil Registry Office).

Basically, every office constitutes a small business with specific duties and services. Consequently, a vast number of activities emerge, that are provided vis-à-vis citizens as well as other entitled groups, such as the individual economic sectors or business enterprises.

Among other things, the Liechtenstein National Administration is distinguished through short official hierarchy channels and a subsequently related rapid rendering of services. For instance, a new driving license is available within five minutes, a new passport within half an hour. These are services, which - as far as we know - are globally unique.

All in all, approx. 1’000 colleagues are employed in the National Administration. This covers national and international responsibilities as well as the entire realm of foreign policy.

The competent and efficient rendering of services is supported through www.llv.li
,
the National Administration’s Internet site that has been enabled in January 2003.
On average, this portal is visited by more than 1’000 people per day, and the monthly peak values are above 30’000 visitors.

An administrative portal with a high number of visitors. Certainly motivation enough for further development. How is the portal arranged at present, and what do the future plans look like?

The following areas are the focus of attention on the portal start page: Life themes, offices, online counters as well as portal services. Essential topics are presented in a simple and understandable way; forms, leaflets and check lists can be quickly found and easily utilised. The objective of the project is to arrange the National Administration’s Internet site in an attractive, lucid - and thus user-friendly and customer-oriented manner.

Of course, we are always working on the improvement and further development of the portal. Our vision is that in the future certain administrative processes can be handled directly and comprehensively by means of our portal, and these processes are completely integrated in the sequence of operations. The relevant basic works are already underway - and so one can be curious as to how everything proceeds on the portal in the next months and years.

After attending grammer school, Sven Lässer studied business administration with specialisation in personnel and management at the University of St. Gallen. He has worked in the Office for Personnel and Organisation since 1996. He has served as manager of the Organisational Development Department since the autumn of 2003, which among other things is responsible for the «Liechtenstein National Administration www.llv.li Portal» project.
